Using Airlock OS
Use the desktop, prepare system changes with your chosen AI agent, and roll back the machine.
Desktop and applications
Open applications from GNOME's overview or search. Personal applications run
in usr-home with internet access, while sys-gui provides the desktop.
Launchers identify each application's VM, and the focused-VM indicator in the
top panel shows which VM owns the active window. VM workspaces keep windows
grouped by VM.
Set up your AI agent
usr-assistant provides a separate workspace for an AI agent of your choice.
No agent is installed by default. Open usr-assistant: Console, set up your
chosen agent, and use ~/airlockos-machine as its working directory. The checkout
contains instructions for preparing system changes.
Make a system change
Ask your configured agent for the result you want, such as installing an
application or adding a VM. It checks the deployed configuration and prepares
a proposal for your review in a GUI controlled by sys-ctrl.
sys-ctrl requires your approval before building the changes. The deployment
plan then shows which VMs will change and which need to restart. Review it and
save work in affected VMs before proceeding.
The agent requests deployment through sys-ctrl. Dom0 checks authorization and
activates the new machine generation, then the agent verifies the result.
A restart of usr-assistant interrupts the agent session, but deployment
continues in dom0. Reconnect to check its outcome; some changes require a
machine reboot.
For more information on how usr-assistant proposes changes and sys-ctrl
enforces review and approval, see
System changes and approval.
Whole-machine rollback
You can ask your configured agent to roll back the machine if a system change does not work as expected. Rollback restores dom0 and the VMs together to the software and configuration recorded in a retained machine generation. Save work before any required restarts, and have the agent verify the result.
You can also select an older retained machine generation from the boot menu to start dom0 and the VMs with that generation's software and configuration.
Personal files and application data remain at their current state. Keep separate backups for recovering earlier versions of those files.
